Metalizing
Metalizing (also called thermal spraying or metallizing) is the thermal application (spraying) of liquid zinc, aluminum, or a combination of both onto a pre-cleaned, blasted metal surface. In this process, a zinc/aluminum wire is fed through a spray gun and heated with a flame. The glowing liquid metal is sprayed onto the object, immediately solidifying into a well-adhering protective layer.
The advantages are:
-
can be applied as a duplex system, where a wet paint or powder coat system is sprayed on top
-
serves as an alternative to hot-dip galvanizing when the object’s size or construction makes full immersion impossible
-
a protective system with a very long lifespan
-
no deformation of the object during treatment
